Closest restaurant to the cabin! AMAZING margaritas…huge and plentiful. Delicious authentic food and walk able from the cabin so you don’t have to drink and drive :)

Also, close to the cabin – within walking distance! They have great craft beers that you can buy in growlers. This is a fun rustic cabin-style little place to go to if you want to have drinks and not worry about driving. It is a 10 minute walk from the cabin. The food isn’t the best but if you’re looking for simple pub fare then this hits the spot. They usually have live music on the weekends in the evening.

Sandwiches/Deli

The Old German Deli
40645 Big Bear Blvd, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315 (Located just before you enter the village)

This is one of our favorite places to get lunch here in Big Bear. Behind the counter you’ll find three generations of a German family working the store. The grandfather owns the business and his son and grandson both work there. The food is very authentic and you’ll find an amazing assortment of imported German beers here. The food is amazing and the service is some of the best anywhere. Some favorites are the sausages and potato salad. Also a favorite is the Landjäger – just ask them for one and you won’t be disappointed. Take a few along if you’re going hiking – it’s the perfect take-along food! They also make homemade German-style apfelstrudel that is amazing. They have a cherry version as well! o You can buy meats to take back to the cabin to grill up later – grab some beer too!

Amangela’s Sandwich & Bagel House
40729 Village Dr, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315

This is a fantastic little stop and one I love to start my walks through the village at. Here you can get something from their massive menu ranging from various coffees and teas to many different food items. Everything I’ve had here was delicious. The public parking lot is right behind this place so you’ll walk right by this café as you enter town. Lots of outdoor seating with some limited indoor seating; also, there’s a nice fire pit outside that is very nice during the colder months.

Pizza

Excellent Indian food!! AND THEY DELIVER TO THE CABIN! (Delivery here is very limited and rare) This is some of the best Indian food I’ve had in California.

Breakfast

Grizzly Manor Café

This is a VERY POPULAR breakfast spot and for good reason. The food is delicious and the portions are large. Be warned: there will likely be a wait and potentially a long one. The seating inside is limited but it is well worth the wait. The inside is crazy looking with a bunch of pictures and stickers all over the place. If you’re looking for another option should this place be too busy then check out Teddy Bear Restaurant in the Village.

Teddy Bear Restaurant
583 Pine Knot Ave, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315
909-866-5415

This is a cozy little diner that is great for families. They’ve got everything you expect to see on a normal diner menu but their pies are something amazing. Highly recommend you try their pies should you find yourself at Teddy Bear. Also (very important) – they only take cash – no cards. They have an ATM in the lobby of the restaurant but there is a nominal fee. This place is usually pretty filled up as well but seating has never been a problem for us.

Summer

During the summer season in Big Bear, the sun shines brightly on the mountains and trees, turning the ski resorts into a bike terrain for adventurers. The lake warms up and is ripe for boating and relaxation in the water.

Spring

In this second seasonal landscape documentary I'm planning for Big Bear Lake, soar high above the lake and forests and see the last remaining snow before it melts away from coming Spring months. Witness the sun slowly warming the mountains, giving way to a lush green land, hibernating during the winter season.

Winter

Journey on an aerial perspective of this icy lake of Big Bear. See the textures of the frozen landscape with footsteps, scattered on the snow below. Relax as you soar through the frosty cold sky with the music from Explosions in the Sky.
